Ok, Im trying to compile a list of tips/tricks that everyone should know when playing online.
Heres what I got so far:
1. Practice makes perfect. duh. Make sure you know every turn/path/rock of EVERY course.
2. I advise AGAINST using the wii wheel, unless you truely are pro with it (for that, I would shake your hand). I prefer to use wii-mote/nunchuck.
3. Having trouble deciding between kart/bike? Well keep in mind, while acceleration is nice to get you in a high position, it is top speed that will keep you there. I also recommend using a bike over a kart, because wheelies + mini turbo spells victory.
4. ALWAYS use manual drift!! This is very important, for you would not last very long online without it. Practice with it and learn to master every curve of every course.
5. GET CLEVER WIH YOUR ITEMS! If you are in first or second, ALWAYS drag a bannana/shell behind you if you get one. If you get a FAKE ITEM BOX, NEVER drag it behind you. Wait to find a clever place to put it, like near other item boxes, or on a bosst jump or some other place you would typically drive. Dont leave it sitting in the middle of now-where. If you ever recieve a mushroom(s), always use them to cut across offroad areas. This will help you gain a large lead.
